This meme looked kinda fun:

The Movie Meme

1. Pick 10 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDb and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them on your blog for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. Looking them up is cheating, please don’t.

I DECIDED TO ADD A SECOND QUOTE TO THE ONES THAT STILL WEREN'T GUESSED

Here they are:

1.
FIRST QUOTE
The Young Girl:
It's me. I am always a little sad. I'm like my mother.
SECOND QUOTE
The Chinaman:
My body no longer wants the one who does not love.

2. Holly:
I'm like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don't even belong to each other.

Skywitch
BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

3.FIRST QUOTE
Herr Schuster:
The ball is round, a game lasts 90 minutes, everything else is pure theory. Off we go!
SECOND QUOTE
Lola: Manni- you're not dead yet.
Manni: I'm not?

4. FIRST QUOTE
Lucius:
Be cautious. You are holding the bad color.
SECOND QUOTE
Ivy Walker:
My sister cried alot. You wonder how I recognize you? Some people - just a handful, mind you - give off the tiniest color. It's faint. Like a haze. It's the only thing I ever see in the darkness. Papa has it, too. Do you wonder what your color is? Well, that I won't tell you. It's not ladylike to speak of such things. You shouldn't even have asked.

5.FIRST QUOTE
Metatron:
Anyone who isn't dead or from another plane of existence would do well to cover their ears right about now.
SECOND QUOTE
Rufus:
He still digs humanity, but it bothers Him to see the shit that gets carried out in His name - wars, bigotry, televangelism. But especially the factioning of all the religions. He said humanity took a good idea and, like always, built a belief structure on it.

Sara
DOGMA

6. FIRST QUOTE
Old Bishop:
I know, child. Pray that the years come quickly for you, taking your beauty so that you may better serve Him.
SECOND QUOTE
Chaucer
Look, I have a gambling problem. I can't help myself. And these people will - quite literally - take off clothes of your back.

7. Grandpa:
That's right. When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today I'm gonna read it to you.

Scrabblequeen, Trish
THE PRINCESS BRIDE

8. First Quote
Mark:
All the great themes have been used up and turned into theme parks.
SECOND QUOTE
Nora:
I say do it. I dont care what, just do it. Jam me, jack me, push me, pull me, talk hard.

9. Viconte:
You see. I have no intention of breaking down her prodigiousness. I want her to believe in god and virtue and the sanctity of marriage, and still, not be able to stop herself. I want the excitement of watching her betray everything that's most important to her.

Heather
DANGEROUS LIASONS

10. Ted:
Oh, you beautiful babes from England, for whom we have traveled through time... will you go with us to the prom in San Dimas? We will have a most triumphant time!

Chewy Spaghetti is going to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Fest!!!

I won't be there in person, but my yarns will be available at Booth 27- The Cloverhill Yarn Shop's booth. Be sure to stop by and check it out!

This is what the kids did for Easter- snowboarding. My BIL has fallen in love with it, and has been bugging us to come up and try. The mountains are really not very far from us, although we rarely take advantage of that. From now on, I think we'll stick to the tubing park, though. The only way that I can describe our experience at the park is "gross". All of the parents dropping off their kids for daycare/lessons so that they could go ski/snowboard was gross. The people drinking hard alcohol at 10 in the morning before hitting the slopes was gross. The Easter egg hunt the park put on was gross, as were the parents who were watching the eggs be put out and telling their kids where to look. The crowds were gross. The worst thing of all, though, was the little boy (not more than 12) who came back crying because he had taken the lift up (by himself- why was he by himself!?!) and couldn't figure out how to get down through the crowd for half an hour. He was really upset, and his mom gave him no comfort whatsoever. She told him it was no big deal, and offered him food. Then she got up and went off skiing (after her 4 beers) while he was still crying. The whole experience was just repulsive. I can see now why my BIL enjoys it so much, though. He fits right in with that crowd. Not being one to drop the kids off and go do my own thing, I stayed on the deck where I could watch and be available to the kids the whole time (which meant that I was too cold to knit). By the time The Rusty Knight got into a class, the kids were pretty much done for the day. We went down to the car and got changed into dry clothes. and then had to wait for him. Nobody really enjoyed it very much (thankfully- no pleading to do it again). The experience did prompt The Rusty Knight to look into local rock climbing gyms, so maybe he will take that up again.

Here are some videos of the kids snowboarding:

I haven't done much knitting. but I did finally turn the heel on my current sock. I think that I need to pick something more spring-y to work on. I think that I'll pick up Jaden and work on it. It's turning warm here, we had the windows open last night. The Rusty Knight trimmed the big tree yesterday. It had gone from bare sticks, to fuzzy blooms in less than a week. That's probably what is causing The Boy Wonder and I to have allergy problems. The Rusty Knight also "did laundry" last night. Here is his idea:

That is a huge pile of clean laundry on top of of a "clean " sheet piled up on the floor.

Thanks Honey!

Not only am I knitting again, but I actually completed a project. I knit it in one night, and I'm thinking about doing another one to get it just right (in different yarn, of course). I do like this hat, though. It's just a little bit baggy, and not the beret that I really wanted. The details are here. (I just looked at Handpaintedyarn.com, and this was the Colonia 140 in Artemesia- good stuff for a hat, and I have a little left over)

I'm still working on my socks, but it was nice to start and finish something new. Of course, it would have been nice to sleep, too. I was up until 3 am. The Rusty Knight called just after 10, when I was heading to bed and woke me up. I couldn't fall asleep after that. He failed to mention to me that part of this trip entailed driving to another city, and I was wondering all evening where he was. He missed talking to the kids, but they have actually done very well this trip. No strange bed-fellows so far (except furry ones). We watched Firehouse Dog last night. It was nice to spend our one weeknight with no dance just hanging out.

I got an email from my FIL yesterday. He was only in BC a week, and now he's moving on. This lady didn't like how quiet he is. I told him that he should put in his profile that he is a "reserved gentleman", so these ladies know ahead of time. I also told him that he should settle down and find a "home base". I hope that he takes that advice. He'd probably also have a better chance with the ladies if he were more stable.

Well, I'm knitting again. Here is the sock that I'm working on. It's All Things Heather in a silk blend, and the pattern is just a twisted rib every few rows. I'm almost ready to do my heel flap. I also started Jaden from the new Knitty. I'm not saying that I will actually finish it, but sometimes it's fun to start a project- just because. I don't think that I quite have my mojo back, but it's headed in the right direction, anyway.

In case you haven't figured it our, I am totally obsessed with home improvement TV shows. I'm also trying to use what I've learned from them to decorate the house- little by little. My husband thinks it's very unimportant, but then I remind him that at some point we will want to sell the house and the more we let it go, the more work we will have to out in then. He also doesn't seem to realize that one of the main reasons that I am doing this is to utilize our space better. This is a small house, and four people share one bathroom. The better use we make of the space we have, the happier we will all be. The living room is almost finished. I bought two new lights at Ikea last week (after seeing a really cute performance of The Little Mermaid ballet), and now I just need one more lamp for the living room. My husband thinks I am crazy with so many lamps in the living room (4 so far), but each seating area needs a light source to define it (plus I also want to be able to sit anywhere in the living room and be able to see to read or knit). I have my eye on one that is on clearance at Target, but I haven't decided yet. The ones that I bought at Ikea are the Orgel and the Vitte shade that I hung with a light cord. We will be spending April fixing the living room/dining room walls and painting them. I can't wait to get some color up!

I've started a few things in our bedroom, which is my next project. I got new bedding and drapes, and a couple accessories. I've picked out a gray for the walls (which will look horrible against the beige carpet, but I am hoping to replace that with gray at some point), and I ordered some mirrored side tables for beside the bed. I am going to have The Rusty Knight make me a headboard and upholster it. I am also going top use the mirror from my dresser (which is a 1940's piece that we inherited from TRK's grandma) and my current matching nightstands to make a vanity for myself. With four of us sharing the bathroom, I really need a space in my bedroom to do my hair and make up, and store my toiletries. You know, when I decided to do the bedroom, I had a particular vision in mind. I didn't know that what I was going for had a name, though. This style is called 'Hollywood Regency'. It's a mix of French Regency antiques, Art Deco, over the top Hollywood glam, and Asian influence. I didn't know it until I saw Find Your Style (one of my favorite shows) this week. So, now I have a name for how I want my bedroom to look!

I have a confession to make. A Dirty Little Secret that I've been keeping: I'm not knitting. Maybe that's part of why I'm feeling so discombobulated lately. Knitting has a calming effect on me. I haven't wanted to knit, though. I am starting to feel like I want to again. I did cast on a pair of socks, but I need to rip it back and make it bigger. I'm also thinking of another project to help me get my Mojo back.

Capt. D (the FIL) has already come and gone. It was an interesting visit, as always. He arrived about 1:30 yesterday afternoon, and left first thing this morning. He has to make the Canada border before midnight tomorrow, (something about having to be in the country 6 mos and a day out of every year to keep his Canadian old age benefits) so he has lots of driving to do. I try to make small talk when he is here- because I know that he won't. Once, I tested him, just to see how long he could sit on my couch without actually talking to me. I think that I gave up after 4 hours. He tends to give single sentence (or single word, even!) answers. After about an hour of painstaking conversation, he made a call to the lady that he is going to meet in BC. He talked on the phone for at least half an hour. I'm starting to understand what these women think they are getting into with him. She'll be surprised when he stops talking after the first couple of weeks, I'm sure. I put up with Capt. D because he is the father of the man that I love, but this whole jumping from woman to woman thing is getting old. I asked him if he's planning on going back to the farm every spring like he'd been doing, and his answer shocked me. He's not making plans for himself, only hoping that each and every of these relationships works out- and banking on that before he's even met them. It's really time that he grew up and took care of himself, instead of waiting around for some woman to do it. I have a much more clear understanding of The Rusty Knight's siblings relationships now. And you know, we only see him a couple of times a year, at most. The only thing that really bothers me about having him here is the things that he says in such an offhand fashion to the kids that I later have to explain. (Like that he went to a Sweat Lodge and that the Indian man who did the ceremony looked about 70, but was twice that age, or that there was a previous civilization on the Hawaiian Islands that sank- just like Atlantis) I'll be spending the day trying to clear up the children's ideas about these things without making their grandfather look like the crazy nut that he is. It won't be easy.

How cool is that?!? Today is my pattern in the Knitting Pattern A Day calendar. This is my first published pattern, and it may be the only one. I'm not much of a designer. Someone asked about these on my bog a while back, and I forgot to answer. These are the socks that I knit for my family when we took our trip to Canada (to Saskatoon- where my FIL lives). The weather was beautiful, and we didn't need them, but we've used them since. I like to sleep in mine when it's really cold. Actually, it's about time to make a new pair from all of my leftover sockyarn. It's funny that this pattern came up today, since my FIL will be coming today. Kind of cool.
We've been having a rough time lately- the last week brought severe allergies for The Boy Wonder, long work hours for The Rusty Knight (and news of impending business trips), sickies for Princess Stomping Foot, and a strained neck muscle for myself. I'm hoping that we can all recover- this should be the last week that The Rusty Knight has to work so much for a while and get back to normal. I feel like I keep saying that, though. I'm looking forward to seeing the ballet on Friday, and just spending the day down the hill. We could use something fun and different right about now.

Space is still available in the next BLUE PLATE SPECIAL

This was cutting it close. That's all that's left after a pair of socks, and a short sleeved ornament sweater. This is the Fearless Fibers sportweight in Envy. You can read the details of the knits here. Now, I have to start a new pair of socks. I think that I want to do something with a little pattern to it. I'll probably just devise my own pattern, because I'm feeling too lazy to look one up.

We had a busy weekend, what with The Boy Wonder turning 12 and all. We took a bunch of his friends to the movies to see The Spiderwick Chronicles. They all seemed to like it. My sister in law and nephew spent the night Saturday night. The sleeper sofa is coming in handy- father in law is going to be stopping by for a night next week, so it will be getting used again.

I thought that this week would give me some time to catch up on things, but it is getting busier and busier. I have a meeting today, and now the kids aren't feeling well. Of course, they couldn't have gotten sick before I bought tickets to go see The Little Mermaid ballet on Friday. The Rusty Knight has been staying late at work every day lately, so that seems to make it feel even more busy. Princess Stomping Foot was supposed to start a new dance class last night, but The Boy Wonder was so miserable that we just stayed home. I'm hoping that whatever this is, it clears up fast. I hate to say it, but I don't have time for the kids to be sick right now!
